International Plant and Algal Phenomics Meeting 2015

    Introduction

We are proud to invite you to the inaugural International Plant and Algal Phenomics Meeting (IPAP), to be held this year in the beautiful and historic city of Prague between June 27th and 30th 2015. All academic and industrial researchers who wish to learn more about the latest techniques for high throughput phenotyping are encouraged to attend.

Advances in imaging technology, standardisation of experimental protocols, environmental sensing and control, data analysis and trait elucidation will be considered in relation to the development of agronomically important crops, and the selection of algal strains for high yielding commercial culture.

    Symposium

IPAP will feature a host of keynote speakers from around the world, including Professors Bob Furbank (Australia), Hong Gil Nam (South Korea) and Richard Sayre (USA), all of whom bring unique perspectives to the expanding science of plant and algal phenotyping.

    Workshop

IPAP includes a one day workshop (with an optional one day extension) at the new PSI Phenotyping Research Center located in the beautiful Moravian countryside. Here, delegates will have the opportunity for hands-on operation of novel technologies for numerous aspects of plant and algal phenotyping. Growth room, greenhouse and field phenotyping systems will be featured. Large and small scale photobioreactors will be in operation. The new center offers complete phenotyping services, as well as allowing visiting scientists to conduct proof-of-concept experiments.

    Topics Include

    • Design of next generation plant phenotyping equipment
    • Standardisation of protocols for comprehensive analysis of meta-data
    • From controlled environment to the field: protocols and projections
    • Integration of genomic and phenomic data analysis
    • Methods for in situ root imaging
    • Novel approaches in cyanobacteria biotechnology - High-throughput CyanoScreen

    Keynote Speakers

    • Dr. Jeremy Harbinson, Wageningen University, Netherlands
    • Dr. Robert Furbank, CSIRO, Australia
    • Prof. Hong Gil Nam, DGIST, South Korea
    • Dr. Xavier Sirault, CSIRO, Australia
    • Dr. Richard Sayre, Los Alamos National Laboratories, USA
    • Prof. Himadri Pakrasi, Washington University in St. Louis, USA
    • Associate Prof. Erik Murchie, University of Nottingham, UK
    • Prof. David Hanson, University of New Mexico, USA
    • Dr. Kristiina Himanen, University of Helsinki, Finland
    • Dr. Tracy Valentine, The James Hutton Institute, UK
